Our Statement of Commitment
Calvary Christian College is committed to taking all reasonable steps to promote the safety and wellbeing of students enrolled at the College and their protection from foreseeable harm. We prioritise student safety and wellbeing in all aspects of our work and do not tolerate any form of child abuse or harm. We act in accordance with the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (QLD) and implement the Child Safe Standards and Universal Principle to create a safe, inclusive, and accountable environment. We listen to students, value their views, and support them to participate in decisions that affect them.
The College is committed to the safety and inclusion of all students, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds, students with disability, LGBTQIA+ students, and students who may be experiencing vulnerability. We also make a clear commitment to the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and to providing an environment where their identities, cultures, and connections to Country are respected and upheld.

At Calvary Christian College we:
- Embed child safety in governance and culture.
- Inform, listen to and empower children and young people.
- Involve families and our community in safety decisions.
- Uphold equity, inclusion and cultural safety for all students.
- Recruit, screen, train and support suitable people.
- Maintain child‑focused complaint and reporting processes.
- Provide ongoing education and training for staff and volunteers.
- Keep physical and online environments safe (including an ICT Policy).
- Regularly review and improve our safeguarding system.
- Document how we are safe for children and make this information public.

All Calvary Christian College staff are appropriately screened and complete the required child protection and safety training to ensure they are suitable, informed and equipped to keep students safe.
- All staff and volunteers receive child protection awareness training at onboarding and annually.
- Nominated Supervisors and Persons in Day‑to‑Day Charge at OSHC and ELC complete one of the approved child protection units with an RTO.
- We maintain Blue Card screening and robust recruitment, supervision and performance management practices.
Our Reporting Procedures
The welfare and best interests of children are paramount. Whenever there are concerns that a child is in immediate danger, the Police should be called on 000.
Internal Reporting Options
If you have a child safety concern you can:
- Submit our online Child safety Incident or Concern Reporting Form which can be submitted anonymously.
- Talk to any Team Member or Child Protection Officer listed above. You can report in person, by phone, email, in writing, or anonymously.
- Lodge a general complaint - see the Complaints section on our website for further information. Our complaint handling is child‑centred and follows the National Office for Child Safety guidance.

Please note -
- Our Student Safety and Wellbeing Policy, Reporting Concerns of Harm and Abuse Policy and Acceptable Use of ICT Policy are currently under review and these will be updated for public access once approved by our College Board.
- Queensland’s Reportable Conduct Scheme (RCS) requires covered entities to report, assess, and investigate certain staff/volunteer conduct involving children. We are preparing now and will publish our RCS process and contact points before it commences (1st July 2026).

Our Commitment
Calvary Christian College is committed to fostering a culture of openness, respect and continuous improvement. We encourage students, parents, carers, staff, and community members to raise concerns early so that issues can be addressed promptly, fairly and constructively.
We aim to resolve concerns at the lowest appropriate level, while ensuring every person feels heard and supported throughout the process. All complaints are managed in line with procedural fairness, confidentiality requirements, and the College’s governance and operational policies.

Step One — Engage With the Relevant Person (Early Resolution)
Where appropriate, we encourage you to first raise your concern directly with the person most closely connected to the issue, as this is often the quickest and most effective way to reach a resolution.
This may include contacting:
- Your child’s Teacher
- The Head of Area (Primary College)
- The Head of House (Secondary College)
- The relevant Assistant Director/Director (ELC, Primary, Secondary, or OSHC)
You may contact them:
- By phone: call the College Office (07 4722 9201) and request to speak to the appropriate person.
- By email: using the Team Member’s College email address.
If the matter is resolved at this stage, no further action is required.
Step Two — Lodging a Formal Complaint
If your concern cannot be resolved through initial engagement, you may lodge a formal complaint using one of the following methods:
- Phone: If you prefer to speak to someone first or require assistance to lodge a written complaint, you may call the College Office (07 4722 9201) and ask to speak with the Complaints Manager.
- Email: Send your complaint to the College’s Complaints Manager at complaints@calvary.qld.edu.au.
- Letter: Write a letter addressed to The Complaints Manager and post to PO Box 1544, Aitkenvale QLD 4817.
How We Manage Complaints
Once received, the Complaints Manager or their delegate will:
- acknowledge your complaint;
- clarify the issues raised;
- determine the appropriate investigation or response pathway;
- ensure procedural fairness;
- keep you informed of progress and outcomes;
- record the matter securely and confidentially.
Complaints are reviewed to identify opportunities for service, communication, or procedural improvement across the College.

We collect and manage personal information responsibly, lawfully and only for purposes directly related to education, safety, wellbeing and College operations.

We may share information with parents/carers, government agencies, service providers, or emergency personnel when required. We do not share personal information for commercial purposes.
We manage digital data and images responsibly, with appropriate consent processes and secure systems for online and device‑based information.

Our Commitment
Calvary Christian College is committed to integrity, transparency and accountability. Our Whistleblower Program provides a safe way for staff, volunteers, contractors, families and community members to report concerns about serious misconduct or unethical behaviour.
Concerns may include:
- fraud, corruption or theft;
- serious misconduct or unethical behaviour;
- bullying, harassment or discrimination;
- conflicts of interest;
- breaches of law, policy or governance.
(Child safety concerns must be reported through our Child Protection processes.)
